Ow... man Jesse that first pic with the animated thing is making my eyes hurt and it moves too fast to see what the pencils and inks actually look like (plus the cover image is distracting). Can't crit that properly if we can't see it...

Thanks Jimmy... greatly appreciated.
Took a bit to ink, but overall, I like the results... hard to find someone that will color it though to my liking. ;) lol.

If ya'll know someone I could send high rez their way... would love to make a print of it...

assuming you are referring to the last piece...

hand done... for the chainmail, I made a template in which I knew that each chainmail piece would be the same if held in a particular angle... needless to say, some white out here and there was needed... lol.

Thanks for the comps.

Hey Jesse,

Your hatching reminds me a lot of how I inked back in 2006.... it was kinda messy and almost all freehand. You should probably work on that a bit, try to get the lines straight and parallel, and not so heavy on the thick to thin so that you get a longer, smoother gradient.

If you want to do it freehand with a brush, spend an hour here or there throwing down lines until they get smoother and smoother (Alp Altiner had me throwing down lines every morning on scratch before I started inking and its helped a ton). Otherwise, try using a french curve and a crowquill to get consistent lines. Heck do the same with the crowquill, and throw down lines and practice on scratch.

If you want I'll show you some of my recent stuff (not posted yet) on IM and you can see how clean the hatching and feathering is. It makes everything so smooth and doesn't weigh it down like the old stuff did.
